Ottawa Revamps Foreign Policy

"and stronger ties with its North American neighbours."
Gotta repair the damage done in the last decade to relations with Greenland, Bermuda and St.Pierre and Miquelon.
Posted by: Raoul Ortega at April 19, 2005 2:55 PMWhy the sudden concern?
Posted by: John J. Coupal at April 19, 2005 6:35 PMCanada and Denmark, who rules Greenland, have an on-going dispute over some islands in the Davis Straits. Remember also, that Canada and Russia share a common border at the North Pole.
Posted by: Dave W. at April 19, 2005 7:03 PMIsn't it about time that the US acquire Greenland, in order to get the Canadians surrounded? We can take over the Davis Straits dispute too, just for laughs.
Posted by: pj at April 19, 2005 8:57 PMPJ: Easier and faster to conquer Canada. Besides Denmark is an ally, unlike Canada.
Posted by: Robert Schwartz at April 19, 2005 9:50 PMDon't forget Luna; the U.S. territory that is a looming, shining neighbour to all.
Posted by: Ripper at April 19, 2005 10:14 PMRobert - But what would we do with the Canadians? Surely we don't want to add 30 million Democrats, and it seems unlikely the Danes would let them into Thule.
I was thinking of a friendly deal with the Danes. We can make it worth their while. If necessary, we can take over Schleswig-Holstein and make a trade.
Posted by: pj at April 19, 2005 10:22 PMLet's see, @ $10 per sq. KM we could purchase Greenland for around $22M from Denmark. We owe it to them to yank them out of the eurosphere!
