With news of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger's selection as the new pope, the phrase ''progressive Catholic" sounds more and more like an oxymoron.

There is nothing stopping them from forming their own Church; however, I believe the Episcopal Church is where they should be.

IMHO, "progressive" (read "liberal") Catholic always has been an oxymoron. It never should have sounded right to anyone at any time.
