ALL FLORIDA, ALL THE TIME, EVERYWHERE:

Fraud fear as postal voting soars 500% in marginals (Jill Sherman, Sarah Weaver and Dominic Kennedy, 4/15/05, Times of London)

APPLICATIONS for postal votes for the general election have risen by up to 500 per cent in marginal seats, sparking concern about the risk of electoral fraud.

A survey by The Times shows that applications have almost trebled since 2001. In some key marginals the numbers have risen even further. In Cheadle, Manchester, where the Liberal Democrats have a majority of 33, the number of applications stands at 8,226, nearly five times the 1,695 cast in 2001.

The Times has learnt that the Government has, for the first time in a general election, invited international observers to monitor the last week of the campaign.

If you can't be bothered showing up at the polls--and aren't active duty military--you shouldn't get to vote.

What if you travel for work? I'm out of town, sometimes out of country, 6 weeks out of 8.

Plan around Election Day.

It's 100% vote-by-mail here on Oregon, with no evidence of fraud and no obvious partisan tilt.

First close election epic fraud will be revealed.

But the media won't demand the politicians drop everything and do something about it unless the liberal candidate loses.

"It's 100% vote-by-mail here on Oregon, with no evidence of fraud and no obvious partisan tilt. "

Of course, the people who emphasize this the most are are the ones who have the most to gain from the arrangement. As we are finding out in here in King County, part of the reason they get away with that statement is that rarely does anyone bother to check out such claims. After all, elections in most people's minds are every two or even four years, so it just isn't important enough to them. And mailing it in just makes it even more unimportant.

Just this week there is news of further election fraud/incompetence in a south county special election that features absentee ballots being sent to unregisterd people, among other things.

"First close election epic fraud will be revealed."

It's amazing how people in the rest of the country just do not want to learn the lessons of King County, either.

The Republican Party ... both state and national ... looked under every rock they could find in the 2000 election and turned up next to nothing. I'm a skeptic, too, but the evidence is pretty clear so far. (Registered Independent here.)
