TRUST THE MAN WHO WEARS THE STAR:
Well, this explains a lot:

Meanwhile, The Wife is nearly licentious:
Where are you on this map? Surely not square in Bushtown.

Posted by: Tom C., Stamford,Ct. at March 18, 2005 12:38 PMOJ: No way - I don't believe you. You were projecting.
Posted by: John Resnick at March 18, 2005 1:03 PMThey've got the covservatives in the northern region and the socialists in the southern states. And shouldn't Kerry be located someplace on the river where it enters Cambodia?
Posted by: John at March 18, 2005 1:46 PMDrew Carey?
Posted by: carter at March 18, 2005 2:03 PMLibertarian. Went into the Fox News booth during the 2000 DNC convention in Los Angeles and really trashed their positions, which was my first indication he wasn't there like the other celebrities to swoon for Bill Clinton and gush about Al and Tipper's lip-lock.
Posted by: John at March 18, 2005 2:25 PMDrew Carey likes strippers and weed but he doesn't like taxes so he would be more towards the Libertarian end of the spectrum.
And I'm with Mr. Resnick on OJ's projection
Posted by: Governor Breck at March 18, 2005 2:26 PMThese little tests always ignore the third dimension, personal responsibility, which is not the same as personal freedom.
Posted by: Raoul Ortega at March 18, 2005 2:56 PMCharts such as this are almost always puerile, gross oversimplifications, and this is no exception. For instance, Hanoi John has a firm record as a Comsymp--does this put him close to the "mainstream?"
My old Poli-sci prof coul;d have expliained it this way. The two-party system produces issue-oriented voter coalitions which, being multi-dimensional, defy this sort of analysis.
Posted by: Lou Gots at March 18, 2005 3:27 PMkerry shouldn't even be on the map, because he doesn't believe in anything.
Posted by: cjm at March 18, 2005 7:39 PMDrove out to the spectacular Oregon coast to have lunch with my lovely bride overlooking the Pacific. God's Country. Now where was I ...
Took the poli-psychometric thingie and came out in the same town OJ did. Remember, that's esentially just the average of the responses. The response profiles might be radically different. (Two extreme opposite choices puts one in Centerville, after all.)

I made the first 'E' in Centerville.
Posted by: RC at March 19, 2005 2:35 AMOddly enough, I landed right on top of Drew Carey (which is pretty depressing sounding, any way you slice it).
But in what alternate bearded-Spock universe does John "Jjjjenghis Kahn" Kerry end up closer to "mainstream" than FDR??
Posted by: Ed Driscoll at March 19, 2005 4:22 AMIn what way is Rush Limbaugh for fewer personal freedoms than George W. Bush?
Posted by: Vince at March 19, 2005 1:50 PMI wanted to answer several of the questions as none of the above, so I find the result useless.
Posted by: Bret at March 19, 2005 3:34 PMBret,
Agreed.
The foreign aid and tax questions were particularly badly worded.

It's all about forced choice.
