A man given six months to live by his doctors has been told by an Italian court to come back in 14 months to hear the outcome of his demand for insurance damages.A friend of a friend has to buy a headstone for a family member. When my grandfather passed away a few years ago in Nebraska, my father had to cough up something called the "York County Death Tax". As I recall it worked out to several thousand dollars that the local government basically charged the estate of anyone who died in the county.
Taxes are usually justified as necessary to pay for services provided to taxpayers. I really doubt that my grandfather was consuming thousands of dollars worth of county services after his death.
