LOCK UP THE NURSES:

Bill Clinton to have scar tissue removed (KAREN MATTHEWS, 3/08/05, Associated Press)

Former President Clinton, who underwent quadruple bypass surgery in September, will undergo a medical procedure Thursday to remove fluid and scar tissue from his left chest, his office announced.

The procedure, which happens occasionally as a result of open-heart surgery, will take place Thursday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. He will remain in the hospital for three to 10 days, his office said in a statement.

Clinton was proceeding with his schedule on Tuesday and planned to be at a White House event later in the day, according to his spokesman, Jim Kennedy.

Purely an armchair diagnosis, but after watching him at his Library dedication a doctor I know swears he has pump head.

do you think the media will question his intelligence and viability in the same manner that they did Ronald Reagan for so many years. Because I have not seen anything yet questioning that. You would think they should start to come up, perhaps not on the evening news, but maybe cnn or slate??

clinton looks pitiable these days, kind of like how arafat was at the end. he will be lucky to make 60.

Clinton will pass on in '08, giving Hillary the sentimental boost she needs to capture the Dem nomination and then the White House.

Neil: As he is no longer in office, why would it be relevant. The media only liked to focus on Reagan's dementia because it proved that he was stupid just like they said.

It would hurt the Democrats to be deprived of his guidance, if they were of a mind to listen, which they clearly are not.

AWW: the timing is pretty delicate. If he dies too soon, she will lose the access to the only worthwhile adviser she has and to his ability to dial for dollars. If he is just sick and hanging on, she may be forced to quit the race.

If he is really ill, divorce becomes an untenable solution. And without it, I do not believe she can stake out her own ground. After all, what's worse than a President using the Oval Office as a romper room? The former President using the West Wing as a romper room.

cjm,AWW,

It's obvious his health has deteriorated, but do you really think it's that bad?

he has shrivelled down, making his head look extra big due to neck shrinkage. he doesn't have much energy, like he is conserving his life force. skin and hair have deteriorated signifigantly. and now he is going in for more work. if the reports of his cocaine usage are accurate, i would say he is definitely on his way out.

these are all just my observations, as i of course have no first hand knowledge.

I'm betting she's hired the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad about now to handle him. If you see a tall, blond nurse with an eye patch with a Red Cross on it heading for his room at Columbia Presbyterian, it will be too late.

Pump head. A condition that he contracted after the operation. Not to be confused with receiving head, while President of the United States.

Bart: she does not want to kill him. He is her ticket to they white house. If he goes, wh is she going to lean on Carville?

Good thing I clicked on the explanation, I thought Clinton, pump, head.....

He doesn't look good.

On the bright side, if he does die, then there's really no reason not to open up the impeachment files, is there?

Sandy P: more importantly the Marc Rich pardon.

Robert,

Several things. First, her ego is bigger than his and she isn't as smart as he is. Second, if he's around she can never take full credit, in that scrum for the microphone, he has the weight advantage. Third, she can call all of the fundraiser types just as easily as he can, just steal the Rolodex. Finally, once she learns how to say 'I can get it for you wholesale' in Mandarin, who needs Slick Willie.
