HER DEBT PAID:

Martha celebrates her freedom (MARY VOBORIL, March 4, 2005, Newsday)

Martha Stewart strolled outdoors with her dog and fed her horses on Friday, hours after returning from prison to the multi-million-dollar estate where she will remain under the watch of federal authorities while trying to revive her homemaking empire.

Before going to prison, Stewart had lamented that she would miss her beloved pets -- cats, dogs, horses, canaries and chickens -- and hoped to be free in time for her cherished spring gardening.

On Friday, she emerged from her home, wearing a light-colored coat, dark pants and boots, but no gloves. Stewart walked with a companion, who wore a dark, hooded sweatshirt, and a red Chow Chow dog, to a snowy paddock. She handed treats over the fence to five horses and caressed their muzzles, then turned to wave to journalists before heading inside again.

Later, looking tired but smiling broadly, she exchanged banter with journalists staked out on the other side of a fence, tugging the sleeves of her blue sweater down over her hands.

The kids just played a fun game in the car: "What other food show hosts should be sent to prison?"

Only Alton Brown seemed to beat the rap.

Given the 'celebrities' they force Racheal Ray to be around, jail would be a step up. And nothing would please Ming more than being locked up with other men.

Ming is married, and since he lives in Massachusetts, I should add it's to a woman.

Nigella Lawson needs to be locked up - but only if I'm locked in there with her.

My spices don't go, "BAM!"

Jason,

If I had to pick a TV chef to be locked up with, it's Jacques Pepin's daughter. Beautiful, Francophone, Jewish and a great chef in her own right.
