EVEN MONEY HE RETIRES:
Sen. Byrd ‘inclined to run’ for re-election (RAJU CHEBIUM, 3/17/05, The Herald-Dispatch)
Sen. Robert Byrd said Wednesday he’s "inclined to run" next year for the Senate seat he’s held since 1959."I’m inclined to run, but I’m not making any announcement today," said Byrd, who has spent 52 years in Congress, longer than anyone currently serving. "I’m studying about it, thinking about it, talking about it with my friends and people in West Virginia."
The way he's talking suggests his own polls must show how vulnerable he is. Does he really have the energy and inclination for a dogfight to be one of the 40? Posted by Orrin Judd at March 19, 2005 4:22 PM
Bye Bye Byrdie! Da da da daaa.

Posted by: Oswald Booth Czolgosz at March 19, 2005 6:57 PMThe GOP cohort in the Senate appear to be such criminals, self-dealers, boodlers and hacks that Byrd will still be a power even if he were a minority of one.

"In the twenty-first century, the United States Senate is no place for a Klansman."
Posted by: Mike Morley at March 20, 2005 7:46 AMAre you kidding? with all the money he's brought home to West Virginia he's so popular there, he'll run again and win again and go back to the Senate even if they have to carry him in and out like that guy in "Weekend at Bernies" and the same people who squaked when it was done for Strom won't say a peep when it's done for Bobby Sheets.
