ENOUGH ABOUT US; WHAT DO YOU THINK OF US?:

Here's a fantastic resource, a website that gathers foreign press commentary on the United States and translates it where necessary: WatchingAmerica.com.

Blogs flex Internet muscles (Amanda Fehd, February 18, 2005, Tahoe Daily News)

"The ease and cheapness of access puts Internet news on a different level from traditional news," said Robin Koerner, co-founder of www.WatchingAmerica.com, which gathers news and editorials about America from newspapers around the world. It falls in the category of sites like www.Drudgereport.com or www.Buzzflash.com, which package relevant headlines into one, easily read page.

"It's the convenience factor," Koerner said.

I would like to see at least some news organizations who do not consider the US as the Great Satan on this website. It is almost like DU International

Hi Dick

Our site is very representative of the international press on the United States. I invite anyone to attempt what we do, and let us know if they feel otherwise.

We work harder to find pro-U.S. material right now than the negative commentary. But it is, alas, hard to come by. I say "alas" since I am true America-phile, so much so that I have chosen to move from my home country to this great one.

For overtly pro U.S. commentary, we often have to concentrate on some of the tabloid Canadian press, some of the Israeli media, and the Kuwaiti... The media in pretty much all other countries right now are quite America-skeptic.

WatchingAmerica does not endorse any content, but just presents what is out there, about the U.S. , and interesting.

If you find any non-American copy on the U.S. that is favorable, please point us to it - we WANT it!

Thanks. - Robin, WatchingAmerica.com
