MINORITIES NEED NOT APPLY (via The Other Brother)
-AUDIO: Federal Judges in 2005: Conservative View (Fresh Air from WHYY, February 16, 2005)
Boyden Gray is the chairman and founder of the group Committee for Justice, which was formed to promote conservative judicial nominees. He supports many of President Bush's choices for federal judgeships.Gray worked for Vice President George H. W. Bush, and was counsel to the first President Bush, from 1989 to 1993. Gray was instrumental in getting Clarence Thomas appointed to the Supreme Court.
This is the second of two interviews on judicial nominees. Wednesday, we heard from Ralph Neas of the liberal group People for the American Way.
An unintentionallty revealing contretemps in this generally contentious interview comes when Ms Gross asks Mr. Gray what he learned about the confirmation process from the Clarence Thomas affair (around the 33 minute mark) and he says that Democrats are especially likely to block conservative minorities and women. She responds by questioning whether it's fair for Republican presidents to choose minorities and women, because it makes it harder to oppose them without being accused of racism and sexism. Job pressure must be getting to Gross to make her say such a silly thing. Who will make these accusations she fears? The MSM, the race grievance pimps, the professors? Hardly. What it does do, and what she should truly dread, is highlight the insulting condescension that undergirds the opposition. And that minority observers take away the message in the spectacle.
Posted by: Luciferous at February 17, 2005 5:17 PMThey're ours. You stole them. You don't really like these people. Stop nominating them. You can only nominate white fundamentalist Christians. Or racist country-club corporate criminials. Or a few self-hating neocon Jews. You hate everyone else. Give the women and minorities back.
Posted by: John at February 17, 2005 8:04 PMSo, in other words, Ms Gross, are you saying that Republicans should not appoint women and minorities to Federal offices? Aren't we supposed to have a goal of a color-blind society?

You know that only liberals can build the color-blind society. Everyone else is to narrow minded, selfish, corrupt, sly, slimmey, bigoted, phobic and stupid to properly usher society toward that goal.
