OBLIGATORY STALINIST REFERENCE:

A spin cycle out of control: Bush administration propaganda bears more than passing resemblance to the Soviet brand. (Daniel Schorr, 1/21/05, CS Monitor)

Washington these days feels a little like Moscow in Soviet times when the government routinely dispensed information to the public and the public routinely didn't believe it. The two main newspapers were the Communist Party organ, Pravda, (Truth) and the Soviet government organ, Izvestiya (News). People used to say, "There is no Izvestiya in Pravda and no Pravda in Izvestiya."

Is he reading the NY Times or the Washington Post?

Twits like this guy lapped up everything that Pravda threw at them for some 70 years.

Schorr writes: "Washington these days feels a little like Moscow in Soviet times...". Where does he get this gem? If he wrote instead "To me, Washington these days...." he'd be seen as the crank he is. His use of lofty, baseless, and bloated journospeak only keeps the psychiatriac orderlies at bay. Pretentious gas bag.

Guess the pseudointellectuals like Schorr have finally realized that the Bush = Hitler comparison has lost what little power it may have ever had, and so now are going to start comparing him to real evil (even if it's an evil that people some on the Left still admire).

But he is right. Only Party apparatchiks believe what they read in the New York Times- Shopper and the Washington Post-Penny Saver.

Good Lord. When are the male aides going to bring him back to the home and put him back on his medications.

They'd best be careful about disrespecting the Soviet Union. If people become convinced that the USSR was evil because it was just like President Bush, it could bring down the whole house of cards on the Left.

Easy, fellas; Schorr's an expert on what socialists think.
