Rosenberg to seek DNC chairmanship (The Associated Press, January 3, 2005)

Simon Rosenberg, founder of the centrist New Democrat Network, has decided to run for chairman of the Democratic National Committee, according to an aide.

Rosenberg, a 41-year-old activist based in Washington, plans a Thursday announcement at the National Press Club to talk about his goals for the national party, said the aide, Guillermo Meneses. Rosenberg has been calling DNC members for weeks to test the waters.


This should get the MoveOn types frantic.

Except that outside of C-Span, the best the poor guy can hope for is some face time on Fox News or, if he's lucky, a profile in The New Republic. He'll sink like a stone without a trace in the rest of the big media world, several of whose outlets I doubt even bothered to run this AP story.

The new DNC chair is going to be someone acceptable to the guys with money, not to the guys who get elected.

Thus, we can expect him to be some out of touch whack-job like Jim Jordan or Joe Trippi. In a sop to his paymasters, whoever it is will spend the better part of the next election cycle litigating Ohio.
