The lure of "Radical Chic" is omnipresent. How many are susceptible seems to be a symptom of the intellectual zeitgeist.The thing that struck me about Tom Wolfe's description of that prototypical gathering was how funny it all seemed at the time, at least to this 15 year old. That the mentality still lives in post Reagan/Berlin Wall America is a good reminder of the simple warning to never underestimate the gullibility of the intellectual/artistic classes and that it is probably a good idea to keep them as far away from the levers of power as possible.
