King Tut's coming back. And this time, he's bringing the family.The Field Museum announced Wednesday that in 2006 it will host about 130 gold and jeweled treasures of the ancient boy pharaoh, his relatives and fellow royalty entombed in Egypt's Valley of the Kings.
The museum famously presented Tutankhamen in 1977, attracting a record 1.3 million people here to see 55 items. Tutmania swept the country during that seven-city U.S. tour (comedian Steve Martin even scored a hit singing, "Dancin' by the Nile, the ladies love his style! King Tut!'')
Speaking of bringing the family, if you'll forgive the self-reference, when we got dragged to this show in NYC in '77 they also had a display of artifacts from Dresden. We went on Mother's Day and it was empty.
I see brunch downtown then the exhibit.

If anyone's coming to Chicago to see it, the Museum campus stays open late the 1st Friday of every month.
You can walk over to the Planetarium and the Shedd Aquarium. It's 1 set fee, IIRC.
Or you can buy an entrance card to all the museums which is good for 9 days.
