HOWEVER, THE SNOWBIRDS HAVE DECIDED TO STAY AND TOUGH IT OUT

Canada in spotlight as America grapples with Bush win (Beth Gorman, Canadian Press, November 12th, 2004)

Canada hasn't been this popular with Americans since Vietnam.

But this time instead of draft dodgers, it's the Bush dodgers.

More than a week after President George W. Bush won re-election, many despondent Democrats are still threatening to move north.

And some are seeking therapy while they decide.

There's even a name for what ails them - post-election selection trauma or PEST - coined by the Florida-based American Health Association, a charitable group offering free counselling until the end of the year.

With symptoms of pervasive moodiness, appetite loss, sleeplessness and nightmares, it's no wonder an escape to Canada looks good.

Isn’t it heartwarming to see therapy is helping these people get in touch with their inner child?

I know it's considered rude to leave without saying good-bye, but how does one describe people who say good-bye but don't leave?

I'm generally opposed to gov't subsidies but one that included a few therapy sessions and a bus ticket north, provided they renounce their citizenship and turn over a passport if they have one, would seem a good use of my tax dollars.

What's the point of fleeing to Canada? Won't the imperialistic Bush simply invade and conquer it at some point?

Their Pwecious Inner Child badly needs to grow up. I'm sick of having to always pick up after them and change their diapers.

They used to send Widdwe Pwecious Dahwing Cwybabies like this to harsh "military schools" -- maybe an indefinite term in an Islamic madrassa would make grown-ups out of them. (Or at least break them so we'd never need to put up with them again.)
