Stayed up until 3:30, so heard about Thune and saw Edwards pitiful comments.

Actually, we may not know for weeks who won the governorship here. A very high proportion of Washington voters vote by mail and the ballots can be mailed on the day of the election. So the vote counters don't even have all the ballots yet.

That said, last night I heard the Republican Secretary of State, Sam Reed, say that the pattern was very similair to his in 2000, when he trailed the Democrat all night and won it with the absentee ballots.

So, I am hopeful, but I wouldn't put the odds higher than 50-55 percent.

Rossi Baby! Way to go! Had to wait for the precincts on the other side of the Cascade Curtain (East side of state, more conservative) to report - knew it *could* happen, but didn't dare hope. (We almost lost it thanks to the Libertarian candidate grabbing 2%.)

Dems have lost virtually everywhere, despite massive fraud and dirty tricks. In the next four years, we must clean up the voting system and prosecute the violators.

Kerry will not concede? Then he will commit political suicide (known as "hari gore-y") and sully what is left of his party. The coward sent out Boy Edwards to do a boy's job. That Kerry wouldn't deign to do it himself proves that he knows it was dirty work.

I don't feel like spending the next 31 days sweating the details. I am getting back to work. BUSH WON. REPUBLICANS WON. TEAM AMERICA WON. BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS. A majority of the popular vote. Beats Reagan's numbers, Clinton's, Gore's (of course). MANDATE! Let's us now turn to the matter of stacking the Supreme Court with excellent men and women of the law.

There are also scads and scads of provisional ballots to count here. I was a poll watcher, and at my station there were 444 regular votes and 175 provisional ballots. Lots and lots of those will be chucked, but there's obviously enough to swing the race. I always said this one would be a nailbiter.

It took the full two weeks for the Cantwell-Gorton Senate race four years ago to be decided, and this will be no different. There's no guarantee which way they will break, either.

Voting by mail is stupid.

Even if Rossi loses, we traded Montana and New Hampshire (sorry, OJ) for Missouri and Indiana--not too shabby.
