THEY WORE THEIR PASSION FOR THEIR LEADER LIKE A THORNY CROWN:

National Democrats buying ads in state (Mike Madden, 10/27/04, Argus Leader)

The national Democratic Party is buying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of television ads in South Dakota, despite a pledge by Sen. Tom Daschle to keep outside allies off the airwaves.

He's as good as his word...

Just wonderful. Now I've got Simon and Garfunkle playing in my head & can't get rid of it.

Hasn't Daschle already spent massive amounts to little effect. This will just give Thune another instance of Daschle's duplicity to exploit. I relish the thought of Dan Rather having to announce Daschle's defeat next Tuesday -- but maybe CBS will wait until late at night to call the race to spare him the embarrassment.

Is Thune or any South Dakota GOPer capable of the kind of rapid response this duplicitous act demands?
