THE GOP'S FUTURE:

Great to see that Bobby Jindal, whose 2002 gubernatorial bid in LA was sunk by racism, will be a freshman Republican congressman in '05.

'03 gubernatorial bid.

And yes, it's good to see that Jindal turned on a dime, putting the loss in the governor's race behind him and pouncing on the Congressional opportunity.

The fact that he raised $ 1.5 million more than his opponents, combined, speaks volumes.

Jindal was so much smarter, better prepared and obviously competent than this Blanco broad who is now governor that it wasn't even close. Their debate looked like a spelling contest between Dan Quayle and Samuel Johnson.

I don't know if racism was to blame, because I think that perhaps Jindal appeared to be too honest and competent for Louisianans to install as governor. They seem to prefer their governors inept and crooked, e.g. Earl Long, Edwin Edwards.

Well, the Democratic machine preferred governers inept and crooked, and the voters weren't quite ready to abandon the Democratic machine. That time will come.
