All of us have certain rights. One of the most important we have is not to be bothered by anyone else for no good reason. I don't bother you, you don't bother me, it's just that simple.

In fact, today, I wondered if it was a full moon. I went to my local supermarket and they didn't have the daily papers out, so I had to go to another market, leaving my shopping cart(I walk two miles every morning and I've lost 26 pounds since I started) outside. As I'm entering the store, some clown pushes my cart into a road sign claiming it was blocking his way into another store. If I lived in a concealed carry state, I think he'd be limping about now. This afternoon, I go to a movie but before I go I stop in another store to get a few things. A woman is about to run into me with her cart, she stops and some douchebag runs into her. Then, he yells at her about why she stops, and then he cuts in front of me to grab some item off the shelf. People like that should be killed on general principles because they have no respect for others. Then, I go to a movie, and I'm in a line at the concession counter where there are some women and their kids who all look like they came out of a J. Crew catalog. However, the toddlers were incredibly badly behaved. If I had ever behaved like that, they would have needed the 'Jaws of Life' to get my dad's foot out of my ass. They were so badly behaved that when they left, I said to the kid behind the counter 'You gave them free Ritalin didn't you?' and all the people behind the counter laughed like hell. I then go to watch a movie (A Shark Tale) and these little snotnoses are there acting like animals, yelling and screaming and otherwise annoying me throughout the film. Good manners kept me from saying and doing what I wanted to do. But suffice it to say, it would have been noteworthy.

OJ, it is real temerity to presume to speak for the Lord. I'm a narcissistic raging egomaniac and I don't do that.

Why don't we have the right to be left alone, to be given a broad path? Don't we all have the obligation as human beings to respect each other's personal sphere? And if not, why not?

Because God imposed on us the obligation to love one another, not ignore each other. You don't have to speak for the Lord--He's spoken to you.

A quick perusal of my KJV reveals John 15:12 which reads 'This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.'

Now, please explain to me again how misbehaving toddlers, pushy people in supermarkets and rude people generally are expressions of G-d's love. I won't even go into how I feel about people with vastly more than the designated number of items at the express lane, or people who play their boom boxes at airplane level noise on the bus or subway, or people who rev their unmufflered motorcycles outside my window when I'm trying to listen to Prokofiev, or people who smoke cigars that smell like a roasting dog turd when I'm trying to eat, or people who don't clean up after themselves in a public restroom, or any of the millions of other irritations I get from my daily interactions with the grex venalium. I'm not talking here about my generalized libertarian/libertine/self-absorbed Weltanschauung of 'You leave me alone I'll leave you alone.' I'm talking here about what used to be called common courtesy, decent manners, etc. Whatever happened to that?
