SADDAM Hussein’s links to terrorism have been proven by documents showing he helped to fund the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.The PFLP, whose history of terrorism dates back to the "black September" hijackings of 1970, was personally vetted by Saddam to receive oil vouchers worth £40 million.
The deal has been uncovered by US investigators, trawling millions of pages of documents showing a network of diplomats bribed by Saddam’s regimes, and political parties who qualified for backhanded payments from Baghdad.
The Iraq Survey Group (ISG), which is still working its way through 20,000 boxes of documents from Saddam’s Baath party discovered only recently, found a list of pressure groups bankrolled by Saddam.
Using the United Nations’ own oil-for-food scheme - ironically intended as a sanction to control the behaviour of his dictatorship - Saddam gave Awad Ammora & Partners, a Syrian company, two million barrels of oil.
Documents handed over to US authorities by a former Iraqi oil minister only four months ago show that this was a front for the PFLP - which was then embarked on a spate of car bombings aimed at Israeli officials.
So Senator Kerry, who says that Saddam had no ties to terror and that he'd have maintained the sanctions regime rather than remove Saddam, effectively advocates funding terrorism against Israel. Posted by Orrin Judd at October 15, 2004 7:58 AM
Is this part of the October surprise? We in blogland have always known/suspected this but is it now becoming so apparent that the MSM can't deny it and the average voter is hearing it and, as OJ notes, contrasting this with Kerry's statements?

All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Kerry's acquiescence to Saddam's funding of terrorists who kill Jews is the moral equivalent of actually funding it himself(or using his wife's trust fund to fund it).

No way. The good person who does not intervene to stop evil is not the evildoer. He is the didn't-stop-the-evildoer and his wrongdoing (generally unlike that of the evildoer) cannot be judged out of context and must never be elevated to the same moral plane. Otherwise we all become Husseins and Eichmanns and Hussein and Eichmann and everybody else ends up getting off.

Posted by: oj at October 15, 2004 11:54 AMJust as "unilateral" has been twisted to mean "nonunanimous" or "without the French," and "no WMDs" means "except for 50+ poison gas shells and the WMD programs waiting to start up again," when Kerry et. al. says "no ties to terror," they mean "other than the dead in Iraqi mass graves and Jews, who don't count."

And doesn't the left refuse to accept that Hamas, etc., are really terrorists? I guess I just don't understand what this is supposed to prove, or who it's supposed to convince.

in Beirut, back around 1971; For technical reasons Waddi Haddad never went through with it.
If he had, this figure, and not Noel and Moore,
