FROM THE "CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR" FILES:
Rangel votes against own draft measure (Michael S. Gerber, 10/05/04, The Hill)
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) did something a little unusual yesterday. First he protested when Republican leadership scheduled his own bill for a vote.Posted by Orrin Judd at October 5, 2004 10:58 PMThen he sent out a letter encouraging his Democratic colleagues to vote against it.
Rangel’s bill, which the leadership had placed on the suspension calendar, would create a national-service draft under which all 18- to 26-year-olds would serve in the military or perform two years of national service as determined by the president.
It's about time The Stupid Party figured out the advantages of being the majority, and how to use it against the opposition, especially when there's no chance of a stupid bill like this one ever passing, but one essential to the Dems disinformation campaign.

No, make that butter in August.
No, make that syphilis in Palm Springs.
Actually, it seems to me (possibly, perhaps not) that the MSM will soon be extolling indecision as wisdom, chronic doubt as virtue, and flip-flopping as flawless philosophical awareness.
And constantly quoting Emerson on the virtues of inconsistency.
To which the only possible rejoinder---perhaps---is that Emerson wasn't talking about changing one's mind every other day or so.
On the other hand, maybe he was....

Might one say then that the MSM is turning abulia into a virtue?
