The hallmark of John Kerry's campaign is an overwhelming sense that he suffers from abulia.

Ooh, that's better than mine.

This is more like a description of the word.

This is an example of abulia.

Sorry, Orrin. I'm just not up to using "abulia" in a sentence today. Maybe tomorrow.

Victims of abulia will frequently deny their condition, referring to their symptoms as nuance.

The French and German Washington embassies have decided to close their doors as the newly elected president's nuanced approach to decision making developed into a full blown case of abulia overnight. Apparantly, the president is no longer confident that he has their unconditional support in his efforts at multi-lateral negotiations with N. Korea and Iran and is unsure about acting alone. In a lighter note, the White House food service staff is losing sleep over the president's inability to decide on a main course at the evening meal, cancelling his choices after the preperations have begun and forcing the executive chef to plan dinners far into the previous night. "If this continues, the White House food budget will need to be increased dramatically. I guess taxes are going up", he commented to this reporter.

I though we had to stick with 'abulia'. No fair inventing words like abulic, abuliquotiousness, abuliquocity or abuliquatulence.

Posted by: djs at October 5, 2004 4:00 PM

Okay, a limerick may not be what OJ had in mind, but "abulic" is the accepted adjectival form of abulia.

David Cohen wins.

Excuse me while I grab some paper towels to wipe up the soda I just spit all over my keyboard and mouse.

Or, maybe BB wins. His entry rocks my world.

Oops. I think I've got a bad case of abulia right now.

Posted by: paul a'barge at October 5, 2004 4:14 PM

In my defense abulic is the adjective form. If that is not allowed then:

Senators who spend more than 1 term in the U.S. Senate often end up suffering from abulia which makes it difficult for them to effectively function once they reenter the real world.

I vote for Jim Gooding's "purple prose" sentence.

We have a very highbrow group here. No one's submitted "Abulia?! I hardly know ya!"

My vote is for

I'd say brian, with BB a strong second.
Axel Kassel gets the "Most Charmingly Bizarre" ribbon.

If voting for yourself is disqualifying, (I thought mine quite clever), Brian's four horsemen deserves 1st place.

Posted by: BB at October 7, 2004 1:17 AM

I like Brian's or Rick T's.

Posted by: David Cohen at October 7, 2004 9:11 AM

I voted for myself before I voted for Brian.

Posted by: Rick T. at October 7, 2004 9:15 AM

I vote for, "Victims of abulia will frequently deny their condition, referring to their symptoms as nuance." Short and sweet, serving a definitive summation of the very term it uses. Webster's would do well to replace it with this quote as the current definition.

Posted by: Ray Clutts at October 7, 2004 10:02 AM

The Other Brother then Brian

Posted by: djs at October 7, 2004 3:00 PM

The first was the best.

Next time, The Other Brother should have the decency to hold off entering until a few days into the contest so that others' motivation won't be spoiled :-)
