WHERE ARE THE RACE MEN WHEN YOU NEED THEM?:
Stakes rise as US declares Darfur killings genocide (Ewen MacAskill, September 10, 2004, The Guardian)
The US secretary of state, Colin Powell, dramatically increased pressure on the Sudanese government yesterday by declaring the killings and destruction in its Darfur region to be genocide.Mr Powell, directly blaming the Sudanese government, said: "This was a coordinated effort, not just random violence."
The US now has an obligation under international law to act. Labelling violence as genocide is relatively rare. [...]
The US and British governments have been reluctant to declare the destruction of lives and villages in Darfur to be genocide because of the international legal obligations and to avoid unnecessarily antagonising the Sudanese government. [...]
An estimated 40,000 people have been killed and 1.2 million have fled their homes as a result of the violence.
If a Korean grocer shoots a black hold-up guy you can't shut the "civil rights" activists up, but there's genocide against blacks being perpetrated and you can't find them. They're leaving it to the evangelical Administration to do all the heavy lifting. And they wonder why no one takles them seriously anymore? Posted by Orrin Judd at September 10, 2004 9:14 AM
The political solidarity between Africans and
American blacks was always weaker than the propoganda upon which it was based. That was
basically part of the broader marxist project
to unite the "People Without History."
I actually don't think they care anymore about
Sudanese than the average American cares about
Bosnians or Kosovars. Which is to say they don't.
Maybe it would help if Africans themselves showed a little more concern.

Since the late 70s, much of the Black establishment, like SCLC chairman Joseph Lowery, has been on the Saudi payroll. Football fans may remember the Alvin Garrett 'look at that little monkey run' scandal involving Howard Cosell. In a previous MNF game, Frank Gifford made the identical comment about another small Black kick returner, Ben Hardeman, without the slightest frisson of anger from the organized Black community. But when the Jew Cosell made his perfectly innocent comment, Joseph Lowery and his associates let up such a geschrei that you would have thought that someone was lynched by the Klan at halftime. The motivation of the Black leadership was not protecting Black people, but was to do what their Arab paymasters wanted them to.
What is amazing is how the Black press and academia, like that buck-toothed idiot Cornel West are so silent. Henry Louis Gates, to his credit, is yelling as loud as he can, even in the NYT Op-Ed page, but he is only one guy.
It would be too much to expect Queasy Mfume to complain, after all, he has more pressing matters like reparations for slavery to consider, seeing as how Americans have reached this consensus as to how we need to compensate Blacks for slavery(sarcasm intended).
And don't forget Sudan's biggest industry:
SLAVES.
Black Gold.
Fresh from the raids on those Infidels of the South.
Less than $50 (American) a pop on the auction blocks in Khartoum, more if they're young and pretty.
(Don't touch the merchandise -- they're Prime, they're Prime!)
Get some before the Libyans and Saudis buy 'em all up...
