Al-Qaeda operative captured in Pakistan (AFP, September 01 2004)

Pakistan has arrested a key Egyptian al-Qaeda operative who holds a senior position within the terrorist network, a security official said on Wednesday.

The official, asking to remain anonymous, identified the suspect as Sharif Al-Misri and said his capture carried a significant reward.

"He is one of the top operators in al-Qaeda's hierarchy," said the official.

Mustn't be too important; didn't notice it in this AM's NYT's online. But then I didn't peruse it thoroughly.

I'd like to know what's happened to the Jordanian Zwaheri(ph). Has anyone heard of him lately? I wonder if he's in Paradise; planning something big in Iraq; or on his way here on Air France?
