TEDDY THE TERMINATOR

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger " There is another way you can tell you're a Republican. You have faith in free enterprise, faith in the resourcefulness of the American people ...and faith in the U.S. economy. To those critics who are so pessimistic about our economy, I say: Don't be economic girlie men! "

Teddy [via The Federalist]:
"Weasel words from mollycoddles will never do when the day demands prophetic clarity from greathearts. Manly men must emerge for this hour of trial." --Theodore Roosevelt [emphasis added]

It's a shame Arnold doesn't have a snowball's chance of getting 'mollycoddles' enunciated. Hearing that in national primetime would be almost priceless. But 'girlie men' seems to work just fine.

If he tried to say it, I'm afraid it would come out too much in Elmer Fudd-eese to have the desired impact.

Oh, I suspect Ahnold can enuncate just fine when he concentrates on it. Not that his accent is purely an affection, but I don't doubt he'd have shed it by now if he thought it impared him.

Taste is personal, I know.

But "girlie-men" has it all over "mollycoddles."
