I'LL TRY TO MAKE IT BACK, BUT IF I DON'T...:

U.S. to sell 'bunker busters' to Israel (International Herald Tribune, September 22, 2004)

The United States will sell Israel nearly 5,000 bombs in one of the largest weapons deals between the allies in years, the Haaretz newspaper reported Tuesday.

The $319 million sale will include 500 "bunker busters" that could be effective against Iran's underground nuclear facilities, Israeli security sources said.

Just in case the President should lose, it's always good to make sure that John Kerry would be dragged into the next war even if unwillingly.

The sale also implies that we have sufficient production capacity to supply in excess of our own requirements, or that our projected requirements are modest. To the good, either way...

Bravo! Well said. Israel will have to carry the ball in the upcoming months if the US truly loses it's mind on November 2.

Well, there's over two months in which Bush could emulate Buchanan (James not Pat) and set things up so that the war become much harder to disengage from. I for one wouldn't mind seeing strikes against Iran as a nice Christmas present, "You wanted this job, Windsurfer Boy, well, here it is..."

"Haaretz, citing Israeli government sources, said the sale would take place after the U.S. election in November."

Kerry could still queer the deal. No pun intended.
