seasons, to worship the SUPREME BEING, the great Creator and Preserver of the universe. And no subject shall be hurt, molested, or restrained, in his person, liberty, or estate, for worshipping GOD in the manner most agreeable to the dictates of his own conscience; or for his religious profession or sentiments; provided he doth not disturb the public peace, or obstruct others in their religious worship.

Posted by: Harry Eagar at August 28, 2004 7:10 PMWiccans worship God? They worship nature and are by defintion outside of the protection of the state in the practice their "religion". it's really fairly simple, Harry. The founding documents cite the "creator" not the "creation" as the source of rights.

Posted by: Harry Eagar at August 29, 2004 7:29 PMAdams understood the distintion, Harry. Your argument is with him. I know, the "thin stratum of honorable men.."

Christians cannot wait to find someone to torture, kill and rob over meaningless superstitions.
Posted by: Harry Eagar at August 30, 2004 7:52 PMWe wait pretty well. Didn't go after Islam for a number of years, let the secularists have a run here for awhile.
Posted by: oj at August 30, 2004 8:08 PMYour Christians, Harry, at least here in the states, are more than happy to let the wiccans alone. Just stop pretending that Gaia worship was what the framers had in mind when describing the proper relationship bewteen the citizen and the state or the foundation provided by the morality of religion as basis for ordered liberty. Maybe its more than hocus pocus if the hard nosed realists of the founding generation could comprehend the importance of say, oaths in a court of law or the ability of individuals to regulate themselves without the constant imposition of the state and it police powers.
