C'MON...:

Getting to Yes: What Ehud Barak's 1999 victory says about Kerry's chances. (Arik Ben-Zvi, New Republic)

The story's not on-line, so it may not be as bad as it sounds, but comparing even Cabana Boy to an appeaser like Ehud Barak seems gratuitous.

Barak has a lot more integety and guts than Treebeard. He was a genuine war hero. He was operatin under the illusion, common among Israelis at the time that Arafat intended to make peace. He no longer has that illusion. If he were voting in the american elections this year I bet he would vote for Bush. He supports Sharon and is not backing Yossi Bellin.

My guess is that Barak's plan for withdrawing from Lebanon (floor it, and don't look back to see who's gaining on you) is the pattern for Kerry's secret plan in Iraq.

He's a bit long in the tooth, but Adm. Hoffman, would make a fine candidate in 2008 (Kerry's boss)
