WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION AND A DEAD CAT:
Zogby: Zero Bounce for Kerry (NewsMax, 7/30/04)
A Zogby poll taken while the four-day Democratic convention was under way shows that the Kerry-Edwards ticket has failed to add even a single percentage point to its support.

If that result holds up, it sounds like the kiss of death.
The debates are only going to show America that Bush is a down-home type of person, and Kerry's an over-nuanced stiff.
If only Dean had gotten the nomination, at least we'd have some rollicking debates...
Posted by: Michael Herdegen at July 30, 2004 2:56 PMCome on, they gotta get something. I'd like this to be true but it can't be. He is going to be up a few points.
Posted by: pchuck at July 30, 2004 4:29 PMHas there been any update on this now that the Convention has ended?

I believe it. Moreover, I doubt President Bush will get much of a bounce either. There are very few undecideds out there and even fewer who will watch either convention. This election will be about getting out the base and that would seem to be a big advantage for Bush.
Posted by: Annoying Old Guy at July 30, 2004 5:02 PMNot to come to Kerry's defense, but let's see what happens to the GOP. This could just be the signal that this year will be the last of the 4 day extravaganzas
Posted by: Raoul Ortega at July 30, 2004 5:12 PMEvery time Bush does something dramatic, it knocks his approval rating sky high, and Dems spend the next few months whittling away at it. Whether he does something at the convention, or waits until closer to the election, Bush just needs to do something interesting, and he'll be reelected handily.
I think we can definitely count on Kerry not doing anything interesting ever.

Dean was colorful, you've got to hand him that.
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
AOG has the line that Zogby was spining on the tube this PM. Since I am of the view that the polls measure nothing of consequence, I view the explanations of their results as pure ad hocery.
I think the financial markets are more important. i would like to see, interest rates push up a bit more and oil prices come down (as they would). I am looking for the fed to go 50 basis points in couple of weeks.
Posted by: Robert Schwartz at July 30, 2004 9:51 PMI was praying that Dean would get the nomination and then go China Syndrome during one of the debates. Ah, what might have been...
Well, there's always '08. If Kerry really gets his ears pinned back this year expect Dean to come on strong in 08 with a "Namby-pamby Liberalism lost the last time, we need wild-eyed, spittle-flecked Liberalism this time" message.
Yaaaaargh!
