Peace Groups Criticize GI Joe Doll Giveaway (Fox News, 6/30/04)

The Minnesota Twins' latest giveaway idea is drawing criticism from anti-war groups.

The Twins plan to distribute a GI Joe action figure at Monday night's game against the Kansas City Royals. The first 5,000 children at the game will get a nearly four-inch high action figure called Duke.

The Twins say the promotion is a way to honor local military personnel.

But groups such as Veterans for Peace, Friends for a Non-Violent World and Women Against Military Madness object to the giveaway and are asking the Twins to cancel it.

Boy, would it have been fun to take these nitwits to a Bat Day at Yankee Stadium in the early 70s--then the subway home afterwards....

Beer Night in Cleveland would have been even better.

I just saw one of these losers on the nightly news. They are truly pathetic. Minnesota hosts a good contingent of goofy anti-military groups. Mostly everyone, except the nightly news people, ignore them.

Ball Day was worse than Bat Day, at least for the visiting players, due to the poor aerodynamics that disuaded people from trying to toss a bat at the opposing team's outfielder. But the bats weilded by energetic yutes could make quite a lot of noise on the Lexington Ave. express going home, almost to the point of even drowning out the 100 db sound of the un-air conditioned train...

Remember used battery night at Shea? Ahhh, memories.

I knew it. They aren't anti-war activists at all, but COBRA secret guardsmen.

And knowing is half the battle.

Never underestimate COBRA, baby. At this particular game, Doctor Mindbender will kidnap the National Anthem singer so Serpentor can lead the whole stadium in a hearty chant of "Cobra-LALALALALALA!"

Morons! I've got morons on my team!

Oops, I've been informed I've been negligent on my GI Joe trivia. "Secret Guardsmen" should have been "Crimson Guardsmen."

And has anyone noticed how often the protestors look like Dreadnoks?
