THEIR FIGHT NOW:

Iraq Police Net Over 500 Suspects in Baghdad (Reuters, 7/13/04)

Iraqi police seized more than 500 criminal suspects in raids in Baghdad on Tuesday, an Interior Ministry source said.

Who'd ever have thunk they'd be better at identifying internal enemies than we?

This is surely just the start too.

An interesting question will be whether the institution and force building we did during the last year -- which enabled this organized action -- justify the delayed transfer of sovereignty and the pain it caused us and the Iraqis.

I reckon OJ would disagree, but it could be that Bremer's preoccupation with building functioning government (ministries, etc.) at the expense of near term security may be about to pay off. Hopefully I underestimated the guy.

Sounds good. But of course the left will declare that this is simply the return of a brutal government in Iraq.

AAW - They already have. This article, however, appears to aprove at least in part.
