NONSENSICAL EVEN BY THE STANDARDS OF A PARTY PLATFORM:

REPORT OF THE PLATFORM COMMITTEE: Strong at Home, Respected in the World: The Democratic Platform for America

As a first step, we must create a stable and secure environment in Iraq. To do this right, we must truly internationalize both politically and militarily: we cannot depend on a US-only presence. Other nations have a vital interest in the outcome, and we must bring them in to commit troops and resources.

We're as contemptuous of other nations as anybody, but the notion that they have "vital interests" in Iraq that they'd realize if only George Bush weren't president is just silly. No one but the Allies really cares about democratizing the Middle East. In fact, Mr. Kerry has said he doesn't much care. We are exceptional.

This points out how badly the left wants to wash its hands of the responsibilities of a super-power. Internationalizing our foreign policy is a way to effectively disengage from the world stage. Their real goals are internal - to radically transform society.

They have "vital interests" in Iraq in showing the US that they support us. Kerry wins and that need goes away, since he'll be leaving as soon as possible and has already said he has no interest in democracy, only "stability".

Stability...

Wasn't that the reason we propped up the Shah and Saddam in the first place during the Cold War?

So the Democrats assume that as soon as Kerry is elected then French, German, and Russian divisions will be rushing into Iraq, right? Come on, no one, not even Democrats, can be that friggin' stupid.

No, but they think the American people are that stupid, and if we believe the myth about internationalizing the war, then we will vote Democratic.

In truth, things will be worse with Kerry in office, because the Axis of Weasels will then have much more leverage with which to beat up the US.

I have a number of friends who are True Believers and they don't believe the French and German troops will ride in to help us. They believe (rightly so) that Kerry will pull our troops out of Iraq. That's what they want. And coincidentally, that's what the Euroweasels want too.

You have to decode the terminology. "Vital interest" means "reconstruction contracts." You see, Kerry would get the cooperation of other nations by cutting them in on the money to be made in reconstruction. That's un-American, for sure.
