JUST PRAY IT NEVER COLLIDES WITH THE WEINERMOBILE (via Bryan Francoeur):
Ben & Jerry's co-founder inflamed by Bush (CHRIS RODKEY, 7/20/04, ASSOCIATED PRESS)
Call it the burning Bush. The co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream is on the road, towing a
12-foot-tall effigy of President Bush with fake flames shooting out of the
pants.Ben Cohen believes it is an acceptable way to point out what he calls the
president's lies."In a polite society, you don't go up to a person and look at them in the
face and say, 'You're a liar,'" Cohen said Monday in a telephone interview. The Pants on Fire Tour rolled into Spokane on Tuesday.
"We think it's a lot more dignified and there's a lot more decorum to say,
'Excuse me sir, your pants are getting a little warm, don't you think?'"
Cohen said.
Doesn't this clash with their complaint that John Ashcroft has suspended the 1st Amendment? Posted by Orrin Judd at July 21, 2004 11:03 PM
And would these lies be the ones espoused by Wilson and others that have now been totally discredited?

Still, as a traditionalist, it's nice to see all these examples of Americans taking politics not too seriously. Nobody bets that if his man loses he'll push a peanut down Main Street with his nose any more, and I miss that.
Posted by: Harry Eagar at July 21, 2004 11:45 PMThis is the sort of thing that suits both sides. His allies think he's a brilliant political satirist and man of conviction, and we realize that he's a nutjob.
Posted by: David Cohen at July 22, 2004 7:59 AMNo one here's mentioned Berger's pants yet! Not even his socks! For shame.
Posted by: genecis at July 22, 2004 8:59 AMBen and Jerry conform to almost every
stereotype of the New York Jew spouting socialism
while practicing captialism. Does anybody
ever speak frankly to these types and tell them
that they are walking propoganda for the far right?

Not at all:
war is peace
freedom is slavery
ignorance is strength
