COUNTDOWN TO FOLD...3....2...1...:

Ire over Hillary Clinton's
small role in Boston
(The Associated Press, July 14, 2004)

The former chairwoman of the New York State Democratic Party on Wednesday called it “a total outrage” and “very stupid” that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has not been offered a prominent speaking role at the Democratic National Convention.

“It’s a slap in the face, not personally for Hillary Clinton, but for every woman in the Democratic Party and every woman in America,” said Judith Hope, a major party fund-raiser.

The over/under on the worst run campaign in American history reversing itself and putting her in primetime is tomorrow at noon.

Wasn't Kerry for Hillary speaking in prime time before he was against it?

"Its a slap in the face, not personally for Hillary Clinton, but for every woman"

Ms Hope isn't one for hyperbole, now is she? Keep this up and I might start to feel sorry for Kerry. ... Well nah

Tomorrow at noon, OJ? Katie Couric will be announcing it on the Today Show Thursday, by the 7:05 a.m. segment at the latest.

No way, it's before noon. Kerry has to hit the nightly newscasts with the fresh news of his latest flip-flop.

Kerry would be very smart to make a stand here, right now. After all, he is the nominee this year. Hillary may be the most popular Democrat, but she ain't running.

And this outraged woman is not even the current chair of the NY Democrats. Sounds like a manufactured issue to me.

No one likes him and he's going to make his first big impression on the public by taking on a woman and the most popular person in his own party? Your logic eludes me.

OJ - Jim is probably like me - so used to the Dems outmanuevering the GOP that something like this is analyzed for ulterior motives. With Kerry however I am beginning to believe he is just making dumb moves rather than crafty moves I cannot fathom.

Kerry has to do something uniquely his own - not driven by Teddy, Terry Mac, the Clintons, Teresa, or any other 'group'. To make a stand now would accomplish that. He is the nominee, not Hillary. I don't see any ulterior motives in this woman being outraged, but I do think if there were real issues with HRC being blocked out, it would have been handled more quietly. However, Kerry is apparently so feckless that this episode is SOP for his campaign.

Now, if Al Sharpton starts complaining loudly about his TV time at the convention, then things will be out of control.

Edwards blocked it.

Kerry won't yield. He wants to take a firm stand on something.

I'm with Brandon and John. Take the under.

OK, I'll admit I was wrong. It was the over (roughly 5:30 p.m. EDT) as far as the time they announced she would introduce her husband in prime-time on Monday. I overestimated the candidate's ability to backtrack in a 24-hour time frame. Sorry.
