BLAME THE GIPPER, NOT OUR ZIPPERS:

"Adolf Reagan" (Larry Kramer, July 6th, 2004, Los Angeles Advocate)

Our murderer is dead. The man who murdered more gay people than anyone in the entire history of the world, is dead. More people than Hitler even.

The tragedy is that if they'd listened to Ronald Reagan none of them would have died of AIDs, one of the more easily avoidable diseases going.

What's really odd is that normally getting rid of the murderer stops the murdering, but I haven't noticed much drop off in AIDS related deaths in relation to Reagan leaving office or this mortal coil.

aog:

Indeed, the worst that could be said of Reagan is that he was indifferent to AIDs. Meanwhile, men like Larry Kramer and C. Everett Koop are actually responsible for some deaths, having encouraged men to feel free to keep having sex with each other so long as they used condoms.

So "the murderer" is dead, according to Mr. Kramer. And I suppose that those who are dead by his hand are entirely free of any responsibility for the disease that carried them off.

It is fatuous silliness like Kramer's that has murdered these people. And the fatuousness is still with us. And it is still killing gay people. And it will continue to kill them until the Kramers of the world either open their eyes or die off themselves.

what an ignorant fool. we had no idea what AIDS was during Reagan's time, so attempting to pin this on him ranks up there with the crackheads saying HIV was developed in a laboratory and injected into homosexuals in pseudo-hepatitis vaccines.

One reads such insane inanities and despairs.

Though perhaps the silver lining here is that the more such insanity is expressed, the more these individuals and the organizations they represent will be exposed for what they are.

Well, one can always hope....

If Walter Mondale had spent precisely the same sums of money that Reagan did -- i.e., BILLIONS upon billions of dollars, more than was spent on any disease in the history of the republic -- they would have equated Mondale with Mother Tereasa.

If you require instruction personally from the President of freakin' US of A to keep you from doing things that kill you, you're doomed.
