THE OUIJA BOARD SPEAKS:

Bounty on heads of top officials (new, com.au, May 7, 2004)

A STATEMENT attributed to Osama bin Laden today offered rewards in gold for the killing of top US and UN officials in Iraq.

The transcript of an audio recording dated today appeared on a website known for militant Islamic messages.

The website gave links to hear the statement, but none were working. The authenticity of the statement could not immediately be verified.

"You know that America promised big rewards for those who kill mujahideen (holy warriors)," the transcript read.

"We in al-Qaeda organisation will guarantee, God willing, 10,000 grams of gold to whoever kills the occupier Bremer, or the American chief commander or his deputy in Iraq." He was referring to Paul Bremer, the chief US administrator in Iraq, and top military officials.

The statement also promised the same reward for the deaths of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and his envoy to Iraq, Lakhdar Brahimi.

Is the reward doubled for Boutros Boutros Ghali?

10,000 grams? Isn't gold worth something on the order of $13/g? Seems kind of a puny reward...

Isn't a gram like a pound or something?

Posted by: oj at May 6, 2004 8:49 PM

oj,

A kilogram is about two pounds.

That's why someone needs to break the Time Zone Rule every now and again.

Yes...but did he apologize?

About $133,000 or than 1/2% of the price on OBL's noggin. Why worry about the chump change if your only in it for the money?

oj,

How do you feel about measuring people's weights in "stones"?

Posted by: James Haney at May 7, 2004 12:04 AM

James:

Pro.

oj:

All measurement units are arbitrary, and it's not that difficult to convert from one to another. None are antihuman, since they are all humanly defined.

I must confess I take a wicked delight in the thought of someone putting a bounty on Kofi's head. Thanks for the smile, Osama.

Nonsense. My foot is twelve inches long. A centimeter is some bureaucratic, rationalist invention.

I'm with Peter B. above. I like the way this Osama operates. "Go For The Gold"

The guy who informed on Uday and Qusay got $25 million from the U.S. If Osama doesn't increase his wage rates, he could be facing a unionization vote down the line...

>The metric system is antihuman:

Is that because it originated in the French Revolution? (I leafed through a Victorian-era "Secrets of the Great Pyramid" cult book once; the last three chapters were one long rant against the metric system, primarily because of it's Godless Origins in the French Revolution, whereas the Inch and Foot were ordained by God in the proportions of the Great Pyramid. Democracy was also denounced -- in a side-tangent -- as Rebellion Against God's Ordained System of Monarchy by Divine Right.)
