3rd Adult Movie Performer Tests for HIV (AP, 4/29/04)

A third adult movie performer tested positive Thursday for the virus that causes AIDS (news - web sites) in the midst of an HIV (news - web sites) outbreak that has halted most production, according to the director of an AIDS testing service.

"This is not over," said Sharon Mitchell, executive director of the nonprofit Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation, which screens performers for sexually transmitted diseases.

And in related news--

I notice that in the article posted, the spokeswomen was very concerned with the "privacy issue" of having the health department have access to medical records etc.

These are people who have sex in public.

I think the technical term for that is "irony."

Perhaps we can save the jobs of the US cameramen by issuing H1-Bs to Brazillian porn stars?

Have any of these performers been tested for character deficiency?

Somewhere once, years ago, I ran across a Web site that listed dead XXX actors.

Lot of attributions of suicide and AIDS.

This little flurry of "news" stories is a good example of faux reporting.

An even better lesson in the inhumanity of supporting "victimless crime".

I don't generally believe that such "crimes" as smoking dope or prostitution are "victimless," although it can get complicated.

Spend a little time in your District Court, and you'll begin to think that even alcohol-drinking, which may be a sin but is not a crime, has its victims.
