This Moment in Iraq is a Moment of Truth: Remarks of Senator John Kerry (April 30, 2004, Westminster College - Fulton, Missouri)

The coalition should endorse the Brahimi plan for an interim Iraqi government, it should propose an international High Commissioner to work with the Iraqi authorities on the political transition, and it should organize an expanded international security force, preferably with NATO, but clearly under US command.

It's the Bush policy but with an extra from a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta.

I think you mean Lord High Executioner, oj -- wait, maybe that's what HRC will do after the election...

I am the very model of a UN High Commissioner,
Of modern doublespeak Iím a highly skilled practitioner.
I know the tyrants of the world, than me they have no better friend,
The USA will bluster but their enemy I will defend.
I meet behind the scenes with politicians Democratical
(the best Americans, they really are quite Eurocratical).
In the planning of a war I can always throw a monkey wrench,
(Whatever led those imbeciles to give a veto to the French?).

In the planning of a war he can always throw a monkey wrench,
(Whatever led those imbeciles to give a veto to the French?).

If only we could hear that sung in Boston Brahmin. Priceless, David.

Truly a thing of beauty. David, this should be the focus of a Bush ad -- it would sew up the G&S undecideds for sure!

Wonderful! You really must try and get that published. Second verse, please!

Very funny. If there is ever a revival of G/S, you've got potential.

Darn you, you've got into my head.

I am very well acquainted too with resolutions numerous,
The West I can condemn in language serious or humourous,
On human rights I speak with much solemnity and gravity,
And I condemn the multinationals of much depravity.
Whenever thereís a cock-up that some say was crafted by my hand,
Like slaughter in Rwanda or relief that goes to Switzerland,
A conference I host and there defend myself with phrases shrill (mmm, shrill...shrill...Aha!)
And bask in wild applause when I put all the blame on Israel!

Excellent, Peter, and thank you, all.

Dang it I've got a hernia from laughing. David you will hear from my lawyers in the morning.
