THE TERRORISTS WIN AGAIN:

Spain Will Legalise Gay 'Marriages' - Zapatero (Reuters, 3/18/04)

Spain will legalize gay unions, although it may not call them marriages, incoming prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said on Thursday, but he did not set a time-frame for the move.

Where have you gone, Generalissimo...

Maybe he'll call them domestic partnerships....

I'm not sure Spain's new Islamist masters will appreciate their enthusiasm for same-sex marriage.

Can't find it just now, but AP had a summary, and two of the old kingdoms -- Navarre and Leon, I think -- already have it.

if the leftist fukktards support this, their hypocrisy is demonstrated once again. if he's not going to call it 'marriage', how is that stance different from the one taken by most in our current administration?

on a side note, i say let them have 'gay unions', but god forbid anyone call that 'marriage'. it's not that hard to look up the word 'marriage' in a dictionary and see that it's clearly between 'man and wife'.

oh yea, fukk andrew sullivan and his pedantic pontificating. such a douche.

How do the terrorists "win" by permitting gays to marry in Spain??

By electing Socialists who share their goal of destroying Western Civilization.

a:

I must have missed where the Bush admin called for national "gay union" legislation.

That's the difference.

In any case, once civil unions become law, most people will call it "marriage" anyhow. What are they going to say, "I got united last week" ? Or, "Is she united" ?

Hetero couples who get united by a Justice of the Peace call themselves "married".

Even common-law couples who never bother with any paperwork or ceremony are referred to as "married".

I'm just amazed that the position of the right is to let gay couples have all the benefits of marriage, including state recognition, so long as it's not called marriage. Is that appeasement or simply surrender?

I'm amused that taking this position gets the right denounced as narrow-minded bigots trying to strip fellow citizens of their equal constitutional rights (except, of course, that no one has ever had this particular right from the beginning of the world until next May).

There's a lesson there somewhere, but there's no chance we're going to learn it.
