WHEN THEY ATTACK, WE WIN:

U.S. Troops Capture Iraqi Rebel Leader (SLOBODAN LEKIC, 12/16/03, Associated Press)

U.S. troops arrested an Iraqi rebel leader and 78 others in a raid Tuesday near a town north of Baghdad where hours earlier guerrillas ambushed a U.S. patrol and sparked a gunbattle that killed 11 of the attackers.

Y'know, guerrilla tactics can be extremely effective. But it still makes a difference how well you execute them. So far, Ba'athists and their friends don't appear to be any better at executing guerrilla tactics than at corps-level conventional tactics. I don't know any kind of warfare where the ambushers are supposed to lose more killed than they inflict.

The people who are pointing-with-alarm, and gasping "Vietnam!", ignore this fact. The Ba'athists stink at everything.

There seems to be several high profile busts in the days following Saddam. Hopefully, this will continue and serve as a blow to the insurgent's morale and discourage others from joining them.
