BREAD WITH THAT CIRCUS?:
Dean Aide Denies Clark Claim (NewsMax, Dec. 22, 2003)
Appearing on ABC News This Week General Wesley Clark told host George Stephanopoulos that before he entered the Democratic primary race Dean had offered him the VP spot on his ticket should he win the nomination.Clark said that during a meeting with Dean last September Dean "dangled" the VP spot on his ticket but that he had declined, noting he was "really not interested in even talking about it."
Minutes later Joe Trippi, Dean's campaign manager who was present at the meeting told Stephanopoulos the offer was never made. Calling Clark's statement "interesting" he said, adding that the matter of the Vice Presidential nomination "never came up," at the meeting.
One of them is lying. If you're a Republican it doesn't matter which--you just sit back and enjoy the carnage. Posted by Orrin Judd at December 21, 2003 6:13 PM
As you suggest OJ, I don't have a dog in this fight, but I'd bet $$ that it is Clark who is lying -- or having more of those imaginary conversations. Remember when he said the White House wanted him to link Saddam and 9/11? Then he said it wasn't really the WH. It was actually an unnamed friend at a think tank in Canada. Also probably imaginary.
Posted by: at December 21, 2003 6:23 PMYes, but the good Doctor has been selling thar "Bush knew" story and denying all kinds of things he's on record as saying. I wonder, a la Truman, if they ever even met.
Posted by: oj at December 21, 2003 6:29 PMI think both are. Dean made the comment but what Clark heard was actually voices in his head.
Posted by: MG at December 21, 2003 9:30 PMWorse, both probably think they're telling the truth.
