STILL NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION
300,000 Iraqis May Be in Mass Graves (Bassem Mroue and Niko Price, AP, 11/8/03)
BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Saddam Hussein's government is believed to have buried as many as 300,000 opponents in 263 mass graves that dot the Iraqi landscape, the top human rights official in the U.S.-led civilian administration said Saturday. But, so long as they were all killed one by one, it's no big deal, right. Posted by David Cohen at November 8, 2003 8:11 PMSandy Hodgkinson said the administration has been sending forensic teams to investigate those grave sites reported to U.S. officials. So far, the existence of about 40 graves has been confirmed.
"We have found mass graves with women and children with bullet holes in their heads," she said.
But was it done in accordance with International Law?
Posted by: mike earl at November 9, 2003 12:23 AMAs the article points out, unfortunately, the Iraqis don't have the money to dig up everyone and attempt to ascertain who they were, so it'll be the better part of a decade before those who can be indentified, are.

On the positive side, if Bush loses in 2004, then all the bodies who are dug up after Jan. 20, 2005 will be important, because a Democrat will be in the White House, unlike those being uncovered now, who are just diversions to hide the fact that no WMDs have been found... [/sarcasm]
Posted by: John at November 9, 2003 5:18 AMThe Dems are already digging. Hard and deep.
Posted by: Barry Meislin at November 9, 2003 6:05 AMSadly, John, there are many examples (perhaps less poignant) were elecing Dems is like paying effective "protection money", at least in the short term. If you want short-term feel good, electing Dems makes for great "feel good". Since only Dems can "eliminate" homelessness, avarice, racism, international bullyism, etc., (mostly by co-opting silence from their media cronies and the Koffi Annan's and Nelson Mandelas of the world) the world begins to look like a really nice place to live.
