Cabinet approves Arafat expulsion (The Jerusalem Post, Sep. 11, 2003)
The security Cabinet decided in principle to expel Yasser Arafat, but put off immediate action, Channel Two reported.
The Israelis made a terrible mistake over a decade ago, when they decided they needed Arafat alive as a deal maker for Palestine. Exiling him is no solution--he'll be given a podium wherever he goes and no one who replaces him will be able to move forward, because he'll be a lurking presence in the background. This is the second time in 21 years that Sharon has had a bout of buck fever. He will no more kill Arafat than he did in 1982. Bet on Arafat living better than he did in Tunis the last time around.
