WHAT ABOUT THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE?--THE PRESS:

Airport Airfields Seized: U.S. Forces Overrun Baghdad Airport (ABC News, April 3, 2003)
U.S. troops tightened the noose around Saddam Hussein's regime as ground forces swept into Baghdad's international airport under cover of darkness, overrunning its airfields with tanks and other armored units.

Reporting from the tarmac of Saddam International Airport, ABCNEWS' Bob Schmidt, who is embedded with the Army's 3rd Infantry Division, said the airport was in pitch darkness as coalition tanks entered the facility. U.S. forces encountered very little Iraqi resistance, said Schmidt, although some units of the 3rd encountered scattered firing by Iraqi foot soldiers and men in pickups.

Schmidt reported seeing Iraqis waving and cheering as U.S. tanks rolled toward the airport, which is just 10 miles from central Baghdad.

Our condolences to Joshuah Micah Marshall, Maureen Dowd, Dennis Kucinich, Jacques Chirac, Robin Cook, and all the others who had been rooting for George W. Bush to be proven wrong about the desire of the Iraqi people to be freed from Saddam. The damn Arabs appear to love liberty just like us. Posted by Orrin Judd at April 3, 2003 7:20 PM

The stories about the rout of the Medina division impressed me even more. Clauswitz had a lot to say about "trophies" and what they say about the will and ability to fight.

The Medinas evidently gave up all the trophies they had to give.

Cakewalk.

Whether that means Iraqis love liberty or hate unpredictable (or possibly all too predictable) murderers remains to be seen.

It's probably really wrong, but I have come to hate the pundits and politicians you mention almost as much as I hate Saddam. That's a LOT.

The punditocracy needs a regime change...
