THAT WAS FAST.

U.S. planes land at Baghdad airport; American military officials say coalition surrounds capital (CNN.com)
NEAR BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The first U.S. military planes landed at Baghdad's international airport Sunday night as U.S. forces tightened their control over the Iraqi capital, U.S. military officials said.

Army officials told CNN's Walter Rodgers that two C-130s and a C-117 cargo planes were flying into the city under the cover of darkness, two days after U.S. troops captured the facility.

U.S. Marines and Army forces control all roads into and out of Baghdad, encircling the city, according to Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

So, what, four days to bring in 4th ID, if they want to? Posted by David Cohen at April 6, 2003 3:30 PM

It would take longer to get the heavy

equipment in, and I don't think we'd send a

unit into combat these days without most of

its equipment.

At 200 seats a flight, you can move the men

of a division -- around 15,000 -- in 75 Boeing

757s. Piece of cake. Wouldn't take 4 days if

you had planned ahead. It could be done in

under 4 hours.

Hmmm, so if things go according to the way they have been going the military will tell the press that we could probably be there in 4 days, after an Air Force bombing campaign, then they will be there in 4 hours. I like it. The press has been most beneficial to us. I read an article about the fact that the Iraqi TV has NOT been able to be taken "off air". Maybe this is by design.

I wonder if Saddam is a Syracuse fan? ; )

Over at blogsofwar, it's claimed that Fox is

quoting a GI as planning to take a shower

in Saddam's bathroom tonight. Things are

movin' pretty fast.

I think we should wait for Rudy and the NYPD to come in for the clean up.

If we put the LAPD on point; perhaps cleanup would not be necessary. It would be a healthy catharsis for them all.

On the other hand, both departments are probably well represented right now.
