Mexican villagers stone 'witch' to death (AP, April 14, 2003)
An angry crowd stoned to death an Indian man accused of practicing witchcraft in a southern Mexico town with a long tradition of religious violence.

The man, Domingo Shilon Shilon, was also hacked with machetes Sunday by the crowd in San Juan Chamula, a majority Catholic township on the outskirts of the colonial city of San Cristobal, 460 miles (735 kms) southeast of Mexico City.

Well I guess he must have been plotting to undermine Mexico's society and thus fully deserved summary dismemberment and having his carcass incinerated.

To me, it just goes to what happens when loony left-wing bishops tolerate mixing animist "faiths" with Christianity. Those folks got a case of bloodlust, and justified it on religious grounds.

The mixing of animist beliefs with Islam occurred in Indonesia during its' past history (and right now) and I don't know of any burnings that took place there.
