WHAT TIES TO TERRORISM?:
Terror team tried to sneak into Texas through Mexico (JAMES GORDON MEEK, 3/29/03, NY DAILY NEWS)An Iraqi terror team armed with millions of dollars tried to get smuggled into the U.S. through Mexico to Crawford, Tex. - the site of President Bush's ranch, a law enforcement source said yesterday.Posted by Orrin Judd at March 29, 2003 8:59 AMThe alarming attempt to infiltrate the country occurred this month, the source said.
It is not known what the Iraqis planned to do in Crawford, but Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein tried to assassinate Bush's father, the former President George Bush, in 1993.
Somehow, one thinks if the good pickup-driving, gun-shooting people of Crawford took the lead -- rather than, say, the UN -- this whole matter would come to a swift resolution. After all, it's not wise to mess with Texas. :)
Posted by: Kevin Whited at March 29, 2003 12:03 PMGiven the still-rural nature of Crawford, the terrorists wouldn't have gotten much past the Kicks 66 Convenience Store just to the south in McGregor before the local citizens would be calling the FBI or at least the McClennan County Sheriff's Department about two strange guys in the neighborhood.
