WHO ARE YOU?:

I'm no paedophile, says Who star (BBC, 11 January, 2003)
Rock legend Pete Townshend has admitted paying to view a child pornography site on the internet but said he did so "just to see what was there".

Casts a whole new light on the phrase "the kids are alright". Posted by Orrin Judd at January 11, 2003 3:18 PM

Actually he said he was 'studying' the subject. Like Woody Allen's sociological study he claimed he was making when the cashier brought attention to the entire store that he was buying pornographic magazines...

I hate these public charges about these kinds of crimes. Anybody can be accused of child abuse and be ruined at just the mention of it no matter how totally innocent they may be. In this case, though, he seems to have set himself up by actually subscribing to a pay site that purveyed this material. (Why the material is erotic in any way is a mystery. I have to believe that it's just a matter of people having a disire to defile or harm innocence, which is a basic definition of evil. It's hard to think of Townsend as evil at that level though. If it's just sex, though, then it's difficult to see, even putting yourself imaginatively into the most twisted person's mind...

Charles:

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
