The reality, she says, is that 512 of every 1,000 African American pregnancies end in abortion.African American women constitute 13 percent of the female population in the United States. However, they have 36 percent of the abortions, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, Planned Parenthood's research arm. In Pennsylvania, the figures are even more disproportionate. Ten percent of the female population is black, but they have 45 percent of all abortions in Pennsylvania.
"Planned Parenthood has come in and exploited the inner city," Simpson says, adding that many inner-city residents have easy access to an abortion clinic.
"Thirteen million African Americans are missing from abortion," says Clenard Howard Childress, regional director of the North East chapter of LEARN. The Life Education And Resource Network is the nation's largest African American prolife group. "We are the only ethnic group in the county whose numbers are declining."
If you believe, as we tend to, that all politics eventually boils down to naked self-interest, you have to think that the politics of abortion will be completely reversed a decade from now. To the extent that abortion is used disproportionately to eliminate blacks and women, sooner or later the Democratic Party--the party of blacks and women--will drift into opposition, while the Republican Party--the party of white men--will, particularly if religious belief declines as it has in the rest of the West, gravitate toward supporting it. One might expect the Democrats to drift into opposition, except that the fierce old bats at the NARAL and NOW won't let them. They've got the Emily's List, ya know, and they'll use it. There are very few Democrats who can win an election as an anti-abortion candidate.
Republicans won't drift, since their naked self-interest isn't race but religion. And I don't see Red America declining.
I don't believe that all politics boils down to
naked self-interest.
I admit that self-denying ordinances are rare.
They exist, and the big example (you'll like
this) is Article VI of the U.S. Constitution.
When NOW realizxes that women are declining in number, and therefore losing political power, they'll lead the switch.

This is proof of what the Right has been saying all along. Statistical correlation does not indicate causality. Unless you believe that Planned Parenthood is on a campaign of genocide against Blacks, you must realize that different populations react differently to different situations and opportunities. The fact that Black women are more likely to have abortions than White women tells me nothing about the bias of Planned Parenthood, just as the fact that Blacks tend to not pursue Law degrees reveals nothing about any supposed bias in Academia.
America's racial divide is cooked up by a bunch of race hustlers who make their living by fomenting and pointing out supposed racism. The real problem of White on Black racism is much less important to the lives of American Blacks than is the real discrimination that impedes the opportunities available to ugly people or fat people. The culture of many urban dwelling Black Americans is more determinative of what kind of adults that culture breeds than is the culture White suburban dwellers.

Steve W. is closest to it. Neither side can flip-flop on abortion and for both the reasons are religious. Dead babies are a sacrament of the Left. This is partly because of their hatred of Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular and partly because of their thralldom to faggotry. The estrangement of genital activity from reproduction is the core of the homosexual cultural agenda, and the "products of conception" are viewed by this gang as no more important than the products of buggery. I will grant you that ruthless plutocrats have no regard for life and would exterminate the all-too-many if they could get away with it, but I don't see them making any moves to fragment the winning coalition any time soon.

Ah-hah! Now it is obvious! Planned Parenthood says contraceptives do not work and refuses to even talk about them so more women will get pregnant and want an abortion! But only blacks fall for it!
Talk about a racist and distorted view... PP may not be my favorite group, and I do not like abortion, but don't think we are talking about genocide here. As for the view that "would abortion ever have become legal if the white middle class had realized they'd use it on themselves" the big objection I remember after Roe.v.Wade was from the fear that the [white] middle class would use it while the [minority of choice] poor would not.
I pass a PP office in my city often, and at varying times of the day: I can't claim to more than an impression, but it looks to me that over 80% of the clientele is North European descent caucasian. This in a city whose census shows 70% of the population is "minority", albeit I will concede that "hispanic" is included there.
PP follows demographics [poverty], not race.
