HOSERS:

As it Happens (CBC, 1/27/03)

Listening to this show is enough to make you hate Canada, which I recognize is unfair. Tonight they had caller reaction to the story last week about Saddam equipping his troops with chemical warfare suits. Both calls that they played featured guys saying that Saddam had disarmed himself but reasonably feared the US and Britain would use chemical weapons against Iraq

Canadians define themselves in relation to national and international issues as "not being America". The CBC is to us as TASS/pravda was to the USSR. They are the guardians of the gate and protect the purity of this World view.......After Iraq; can you liberate us?....

You could also have done a call-in show before WWII and selected people who would have argued that Churchill, not Hitler, was the real threat to world peace. To argue that a dictatorship run by a psychopath is justifiably afraid of a pre-emptive chemical attack by two liberal "democracies" which possess overwhelming conventional superiority is just bigoted (against Americans) and moronic. The CBC, if it had any integrity at all, would have also given airtime to callers with an alternative viewpoint that would have put this delusional reasoning in perspective. And yet it didn't. Well, color me amazed.

Please don't assume that all Canadians are hopeless appeasers. Many Canadians are just as disgusted as as we are with the idiocy of the Left (e.g., Mark Steyn
).

Mr. Steyn lives one town over from us in NH.

It's not just Canada, Orrin. The PBS NewsHour had on Zbigniew Brzezinski last night, and he suggested that one could make the case that Iraq is trying to hide some weapons of mass destruction because they fear that is the only thing deterring the United States from attacking them! This from someone who was the most important National Security official in THIS nation for four years!

I sometimes wonder how we survived those four years.

Pretty well listening to any show on the CBC would Americans hate Canada Brother Orrin, but like the other comments state, there are still a few of us cousins up here who are disgusted by everything that's going on in Canada.

It's getting so that I do nothing else the whole day but argue with people about the U.S., Iraq, September 11 and every other related issue...could the world have been this morally cloudy in 1939?

Do me a favor: listen to the show for just one hour and if it doesn't make you wish you were looking at Ottawa through the range finder on the Enola Gay I'll get a maple leaf tattoo.

You issue chemical weapons suits to your own troops when you intend to use such weapons. They've used such weapons before, something leftists seem to always forget. That leftists think this means they are afraid of the Evil US using the stuff shows how proudly and pugnaciously ignorant they are.
